Lovely, honest advice you need to hear about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Damn it.

Are you ready to clear our your 401k and invest? DON'T DO IT!

If you can't afford to lose the money you're going to invest, do't do it. It's really simple... just like most things in this world, the chances of losing are greater than becoming a billionaire. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are just like any other investment... be wise and don't put you or your families well being at risk.

Scammers, Hackers, and Frauds

Don't let anyone store your Bitcoins. Don't buy them online. And if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. If someone claims that they can quickly make you A LOT of money, all you need to do is "give" them access to your Bitcoins. Don't do it.

My favorite scam story I heard today... someone told a Bitcoin owner that they had inside information that Amazon was about to start accepting Bitcoin due to a decision that was about to be made by the United States Government to accept Bitcoin as a form of currency. They mentioned it's not public knowledge yet, but it soon will be. An hour later the scammer contacted the victim again sourcing the following article:

There are rumors about Inc. AMZN, +0.87% accepting bitcoin on its retail platform. According to a blog post on Seeking Alpha, Amazon could announce that it will accept bitcoin as payment on its site when it reports quarterly results Oct. 26, which could lead others, including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. BABA, -2.67% to follow suit. Source: Market Watch

They offered the owner of the Bitcoin a once in a lifetime deal to buy special Crypto bonds which would guarantee 10,000 X returns within 12 Months... of course none of this was confirmed nor true.

The world is full of shitty people, and money does really messed up things to people. So, be safe and don't run assume everyone is out for your best interest.

Research your bank... I mean wallet!

The online world is shrouded in a veil of anonymity, and cryptocurrency can be likened to digital cash. Read the fine print! Are they reputable. Are they known/real. What are people saying about them? Spend at least a couple hours doing your homework, you'll be happy you did!

You are the only insurance your wallet has. Secure your wallet!

Just like anything digital, back it up! If you're not sure how to back up your wallet, here is a quick guide: Click HERE

Do you use a password to access your bank accounts? Yeah? Do you use maximum security passwords and extra authentication to secure your online bank account? If not, you should. And you should also use passwords with two-factor authentication when accessing your wallet too. And for heave's sake, remember your passwords but don't write them down! Don't keep them under your keyboard. And don't email or text the password to yourself. I can't tell you how many times I've heard of people getting their password hacked. Or, a little better, but not much... forgetting their password. They go through hell and back trying to recover their bitcoins or whichever cryptocurrency. Don't be one of those people.

Do you have tens-of-thousands of dollars in you glove compartment of your car?

No? Why not? Oh yeah... because you don't want to lose it. There are safer places to keep your money aka Bitcoin aka cryptocurrency.

Stay Current and Up-to-Date.

Staying current on what's happening within the cryptocurrency world. This will help you know when to buy and/or sell. Generally speaking knowledge is power and cash is king. Stay knowledgable and don't get lazy. Create online alerts to let you know when news about Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies are trending. There are services like and which will help you keep current at no charge. You can also use Google Alerts, although... the results have been pretty crappy. Although, I maybe bias. Since, I am the founder of BitcoinBrilliant:)

Don't give people a reason to make you a target. My mother always told me when I was younger... "Keep the candle covered until it's lit." Let people figure out how wealthy you are after you buy your mansion and a yacht:)

Remember to be happy. Enjoy life. Smile, and remember you can't take it with you. All too often we get caught in the chase. Go out of your way to make someone you don't know smile every day. Buy the person behind you in the drive through their meal, anonymously donate to a cause you care about, or simply give someone a hug when they need it. And, if you're mom and dad are still alive. Surprise them for dinner, and make sure you tell them you love them any chance you get.

Happy trading. And good luck... this is going to be a wild ride:)

Have a Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays!
